Weathernews improving with new tools

Weathernews Inc. introduced two AI tools—Berth Waiting Forecast and New Tonnage Finder—at a customer event in Copenhagen to enhance its SeaNavigator voyage-optimization solution.

Berth Waiting Forecast

The Berth Waiting Forecast tool uses AI to predict port delays caused by adverse weather, helping operators improve voyage efficiency and reduce emissions. It provides real-time ship status and congestion forecasts for up to a week, integrating AIS data from over 70,000 ships, weather data, and historical trends. This allows users to optimize voyage plans, adjust speed, and reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

“These two new tools further enhance SeaNavigator where every competitive advantage counts, not only in terms of minimizing logistics risk but also operational costs and environmental impact.

New Tonnage Finder

The New Tonnage Finder tool helps charterers identify top-performing vessels using real-time data and advanced ship-performance models. It calculates key parameters such as average speed and fuel consumption under good weather conditions, leveraging AIS data, global weather, and hydrographic data.

“These two new tools further enhance SeaNavigator where every competitive advantage counts, not only in terms of minimizing logistics risk but also operational costs and environmental impact. They enhance the already impressive predictive capabilities of the platform, which including the Voyage Planner and CII Simulator represents an end-to-end solution that covers all customer scenarios,” said Niels Christian Kjærgaard, Director EU Business Development at Weathernews.

Weathernews 2.0 Transformation

The event also introduced Craig West, the new European CEO, who discussed the company’s transition to a SaaS-driven model. He emphasized the need for improved efficiency, lower emissions, and better risk management in response to increasing regulations and climate challenges.
