This strategy should help European shipyards and suppliers maintain technological leadership, reclaim strategic markets, and explore new ones. Key pillars include enhancing industrial sovereignty, regulatory support, technological leadership, and workforce skills.

The social partners also stress the importance of the Skills Pact for shipbuilding and propose a maritime expert group to develop policies.

Isabelle Barthès and Christophe Tytgat highlight the sector’s potential for a green future, urging EU policymakers to support it for job stability and economic growth. In April, the European Shipbuilders’ Association called for a major policy shift.
