Wallenius Wilhelmsen is going large

Wallenius Wilhelmsen upsizes four vessels to largest in the world

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is future-proofing its fleet by increasing the capacity of four Shaper Class vessels from 9,300 to 11,700 CEUs, making them the largest PCTCs globally.

Why does it matter? The upsized vessels will significantly cut emissions and costs, aligning with the company’s net-zero ambitions. Larger vessels mean more cargo per trip, reducing emissions and cost per vehicle transported. This leap in efficiency supports Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s goal of delivering a net-zero end-to-end service by 2027.

Once built, there will be no other PCTC vessel that is larger in the world.

“Providing significant savings on fuel and emissions in comparison to the current fleet and with both unparalleled capacity and the highest ramp strength in the order book, these vessels are truly fit for the future.” Xavier Leroi, EVP & COO Shipping Services

Key Features & Timeline

  • 6 meters longer, 2 meters wider, and 14 decks (up from 12)
  • Methanol-capable dual-fuel engines
