Open stages at SMM

From September 3-6, SMM in Hamburg will welcome over 40,000 participants from 120 countries and 2,000 exhibitors from 70 countries.

 

SMM will offer the visitors a comprehensive conference program addressing critical industry issues such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, recruiting, and maritime security and defence. For the first time, these conferences will be accessible for free to all visitors on the Transistion Stages.

Here’s an overview of the top items on the agenda:

Decarbonisation:

  • Global Maritime Environmental Congress (gmec): Focus on alternative fuels with speakers like Nicola Good from Lloyd’s Register and Gunnar Stiesch from MAN Energy Solutions. (September 4, Green Stage)
  • Offshore Dialogue: Discussions on offshore energy and resilience with experts like Professor Sören Ehlers and Torgeir Sterri from DNV Maritime.
  • Alternative Propulsion Concepts: Debates on nuclear power and green fuels for future shipping.
Digitalisation

  • Maritime Future Summit: Highlights AI and digital twins with experts like Dimitry Ponkaratov from Siemens and Helle Vines Ertsås from Jotun.
  • Additive Manufacturing and Autonomous Shipping: Sessions on the potential and limitations of 3D printing and the future of autonomous navigation in Germany.
Recruiting

  • Employer and Industry Branding: Session on attracting young talent to the maritime sector.
  • Career Forum and Maritime Career Market: Information on career planning and opportunities with organizations like the German Shipowners Association VDR.
Maritime Security & Defence

MS&D Conference: Focus on naval shipbuilding trends and geostrategic issues with speakers like Igor Kabanenko and Dr Jyh-Shyang Sheu.

     

    Visitors can also explore the Future Fuels Area, AI CENTER, and various exhibitor routes showcasing innovations in energy transition, digital technology, and security and defence.
