HMM plans expansion plans

 

HMM has outlined a strategy to become a global green shipping and logistics carrier, aiming for sustainable growth by 2030. The company will invest $17.7 billion, divided as follows: $9.6 billion in container shipping, $4.2 billion in bulk shipping, $3.2 billion in integrated logistics, and $752 million to boost competitiveness.

HMM is preparing for stricter global environmental regulations and aims to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions by 2045. Over 60% of its investment, or $10.9 billion, will focus on sustainable initiatives, such as low-carbon ships and green facilities.

  1. Container Shipping: HMM will invest $8.3 billion to expand its fleet to 130 vessels (1.55 million TEU) and $1.3 billion in containers. By 2030, the goal is to acquire 70 eco-friendly ships and establish a carbon-neutral ecosystem by 2045.
  2. Bulk Shipping: HMM plans to invest $4.2 billion to expand its fleet from 36 to 110 vessels, boosting profitability and entering eco-friendly energy transport.
  3. Integrated Logistics: $3.2 billion will be spent on expanding logistics infrastructure, terminals, and services, improving end-to-end logistics.
  4. Competitiveness: HMM will allocate $752 million for Net Zero efforts, retrofitting ships, securing green fuel, and digitalizing operations to improve efficiency.
