TMC supplies compressor systems for Meyer newbuilds

Meyer Werft has selected Norwegian firm TMC Compressors to deliver marine compressed air systems for two new LNG-powered cruise ships for Carnival Cruise Line.

The vessels, to be built in Papenburg and delivered in 2027 and 2028, will each carry 6,400 passengers. TMC will provide complete systems, including compressors for instrument, service, and engine starting air, plus air treatment units. The contract’s value remains undisclosed. “Our European production base allows us to meet tight delivery schedules,” said Hans-Petter Tanum, Director at TMC, which specializes in marine and offshore equipment.
The ships—Carnival Festivale and Carnival Tropicale—are part of a standardized LNG platform Meyer has used for nine Carnival vessels since 2018. LNG is seen as a key transitional fuel, and TMC’s systems are designed to enhance ship efficiency and reduce emissions. Despite restructuring, Meyer Werft’s order book remains strong, and reports suggest future naval vessel construction may be possible at the Papenburg yard.
