Maritime focus on Africa

Africa holds vast potential for green energy and economic growth. Denmark’s new Africa Strategy focuses on investments and collaboration to tap into this potential, particularly in trade and renewable energy.

“Africa has massive potential for renewable energy, which can play a key role in the future of green fuels for shipping.” Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of Danish Shipping

Danish Shipping supports the strategy but calls for more concrete actions, especially in financing and trade.

CEO Anne H. Steffensen highlights Africa’s potential to become a major exporter of green fuels, which will be crucial for shipping’s green transition.

“If we want to bring Africa closer to us – both geopolitically and economically – we must ensure that African countries also see an improvement in their prosperity.” Anne H. Steffensen, CEO of Danish Shipping

Danish Shipping also sees opportunities in the EU’s Global Gateway initiative, promoting investments in infrastructure and green shipping routes around Africa.

Steffensen emphasizes the need for reciprocity in trade and urges African partners to avoid protectionist barriers. Danish Shipping is committed to enhancing trade, security, and green collaboration with Africa.
