Bernhard Schulte takes delivery of second CSOV

Bernhard Schulte Offshore (BSO) has taken delivery of its latest Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV), the 89-metre “Windea Clausius”, from Ulstein Verft in Norway. The vessel will operate in the global offshore energy sector.

Expanding a Modern Fleet
“The ‘Windea Clausius’ completes our modern offshore fleet, now comprising five state-of-the-art vessels,” said BSO Managing Director Matthias Müller. Along with its sister ship ‘Windea Curie’, delivered in June, the new vessel features innovative designs focused on reliability, operational capability, flexibility, and sustainability.

Equipped with a twin stern hull and azimuth thrusters at bow and stern, the vessel is ideal for dynamic positioning (DP) while reducing fuel consumption. “We are proud to contribute to the green transformation of the offshore industry,” said Lars Lühr Olsen, Managing Director of Ulstein Verft.

Designed for Harsh Conditions
The vessel’s Twin X-star design minimizes movement, ensuring safe gangway operations. It features a height-adjustable, central walk-to-work gangway with elevator tower, a 3D motion-compensated crane for lifts up to five tons, and a height-adjustable boat landing system for safe personnel and cargo transfers.

Comfort and Sustainability
The “Windea Clausius” offers 111 cabins accommodating up to 132 personnel, with hybrid battery propulsion and methanol preparation for low-CO₂ operations. It is suited for operation, maintenance, and offshore construction support.

Honouring a Scientist
The vessel is named after Rudolf Clausius, the German physicist known for his work in thermodynamics, continuing BSO’s tradition of naming vessels after notable scientists, such as “Windea La Cour”, “Windea Leibniz”, “Windea Jules Verne”, and “Windea Curie”.
