500,000 containers handled via Secure Chain
The Port of Rotterdam has securely processed its 500,000th import container through the Secure Chain system, eliminating the need for fraud-prone PIN codes.
This system, already in use for containers from Latin and North America, will expand to shipments from Africa, the Middle East, India, and Pakistan by October 2024.
The Secure Chain ensures only authorized parties, including shippers, forwarders, and carriers, can access container information through Portbase, the port’s logistics platform.
Supported by Dutch Customs and Seaport Police, this initiative enhances security and efficiency in container handling across Rotterdam’s terminals.
