Which 7 port operators account for 40% of global transshipment?

 

In 2023, seven major port operators handled over 40% of global container throughput, per Drewry’s annual review.

PSA International led with 62.6 million TEU, followed by China Merchants at 55 million TEU.

MSC Group saw the highest growth, exceeding 10%, after acquiring Bolloré Africa Logistics.

New entrants to the rankings include Adani, AD Ports Group, and Hapag-Lloyd.

Overall, the top 21 operators saw a 2.3% increase in throughput, outpacing global port growth. Despite mixed revenues, global terminal revenue trended upward due to strong US demand and the Red Sea crisis.
