Semco Maritime and Navantia Seanergies team up to power offshore wind
Navantia Seanergies and Semco Maritime have joined forces to meet the world’s urgent need for reliable, sustainable and clean energy. This partnership brings the capabilities of Europe's largest industrial-scale manufacturer in offshore wind and the expertise of the most accomplished HVAC offshore substation supplier.

The agreement between Navantia Seanergies and Semco Maritime was announced in a special
event at the WindEurope exhibition, which is held from April 8th to 10th in Copenhagen. Thomas
Thomsen, SVP of Semco Maritime’s Renewables division and Javier Herrador Navantia Seanergies Vice
President, hosted the event at the Navantia Seanergies stand.
With this new European partnership, the companies bring together their capabilities to design and build
reliable solutions that incorporate the lessons learned from more than +20 years of experience and over
30 offshore substations delivered world-wide. The companies will deliver EPC solutions that integrate this wealth of knowledge to create proven configurations. Utilizing a range of standardized building blocks, ensuring that their solutions are lean, and construction friendly. Also, the new partnership will offer an unparalleled lifecycle approach, taking advantage of the large experience in maintaining over 40 offshore substations across Europe.
Mr. Herrador has explained that “Semco Maritime is a company with which we fully share our strategic
vision and purpose. Regarding the promotion of the energy transition, the decarbonization of society,
and Europe’s energy independence, thanks to this alliance, we will grow together in the offshore wind
market, gaining weight in the offshore substation segment, leveraging the synergies that both
companies have in this market and the complementarity of our capabilities, knowledge, and corporate
cultures.” He added that “Partnerships have been part of Navantia Seanergies strategy, and pointing as
an example to the relationship with Windar Renovables for foundations for offshore wind turbines.”
Thomas Thomsen stated that “this partnership marks a significant milestone for Semco Maritime as we
continue to expand our footprint in the offshore wind sector. By combining our extensive experience in
HVAC offshore substations with Navantia Seanergies’ industrial capabilities, we are poised to deliver
innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the growing demand for clean energy.
This new partnership will focus on projects in Europe and North America, complementing our existing
collaboration with Vietnam’s PTSC M&C, which also includes the APAC market. We highly value our
partnership with PTSC M&C and remain committed to its continued success. We are excited about the
opportunities this collaboration brings and are confident that together, we will set new standards in the
industry”. They both conclude that “this strategic partnership will strengthen both companies’ leadership in the
offshore wind market, positioning us as the preferred partner for major projects and help shaping the
future of renewable energy.”

About Navantia Seanergies
Navantia Seanergies is the division created by Navantia to contribute to the development of green
energies, through the construction of elements for marine wind power farms and the development of
hydrogen as an energy transport vector.
Navantia Seanergies, born of the synergies with the other divisions of the public shipbuilding company
and integration of high-tech systems, is a supplier of all kinds of solutions in foundations for marine
wind farms and substations and represents a solid industrial ally, with proven experience, innovation
capacity, modern facilities and a consolidated value chain serving the energy transition.
In 2024, Navantia celebrated ten years in offshore wind energy. During this time, it has developed 21
projects in 9 countries, including more than 220 jackets, over 110 monopiles, and 70% of the floating
platforms existing in the world.
Regarding substations, it has participated in eight HVAC and HVDC top sides and/or foundations
projects that have been developed in the facilities in Puerto Real (Cádiz), specialized in building these
products. These industrial facilities are particularly suited for the manufacturing of large structures with
significant lifting equipment and a new flat panel workshop that will allow the fabrication of panels up
to 20 by 22 meters and up to 150 tons in weight with extensive use of automatization and cutting-edge
welding technology. Navantia Seanergies has supplied top-side substations and their foundations,
supplying for clients such as Iberdrola, Ocean Winds, Orsted, and Equinor among others.
