Danish municipalities face workforce decline
A recent forecast from the Danish Chamber of Commerce (Dansk Erhverv) indicates that by 2050, 78 municipalities in Denmark are expected to face a decline in their workforce, as reported by Finans.
Moreover, the number of people aged 20-69 in Denmark is projected to decrease by 3.5% by 2050.
“I find this to be a bleak scenario”
“I find this to be a bleak scenario. We are facing a depopulation of the workforce in parts of the country,” says Peter Halkjær, Labor Market Director at Dansk Erhverv.
Dansk Erhverv warns that these significant labor shortages could drive businesses to relocate. The analysis highlights that while 20 municipalities near major cities will see an increase in their workforce, the remaining 78, further from urban areas are anticipated to experience a decline.
