What is happening at the GreenPort Congress & Cruise?

GreenPort Congress and Cruise returns the Port Of Lisbon, to showcase this vital and vibrant Atlantic gateway to Europe from 18-20 October.

 

ESPO have announced they will release their Environmental Report and ECOSLC Report at GreenPort Congress & Cruise, After 26 years of the EcoPorts Network, ESPO presents the 8th Annual Environmental Report. The ESPO Environmental Report is part of EcoPorts, which is the environmental flagship initiative of European Ports. The Environmental Report provides ESPO and European policymakers with insights on the environmental issues that European ports are working on, and informs the initiatives taken by ESPO.

The Portuguese Minister of Infrastructure, João Galamba will be Opening GreenPort Congress & Cruise. João Galamba will be sharing governmental insights in his keynote on the opening morning of the conference after the host ports welcome. Minister of Infrastructure Mr Galamba arrived in parliament in 2009 and was a member of parliament in the 11th, 12th, and 13th Governments. He was coordinator of the Socialist Party members of parliament in the Budget and Finance Committee, and Vice-President of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group.

The 2023 conference will cover a wide range of themes including Climate Change, Green Bunkering and Offshore Renewables, Energy Efficiency, Waste Management and Circular Economy, Carbon Neutral Ports, Blue Growth, Digitalization and Innovation, and Infrastructure Development covering both the cargo and cruise segment.

The programme boasts over 40 high calibre presenters and extremely topical presentations including Alex Lagarde. Conversion’s Energy Conversion Expert & Business Development Manager, GE Vernova presenting on reliability and availability return of experience, from years of power conversion in Vessel Electrical Conversion systems, and Oil and Gas systems. This presentation will explore reliability aspects of large power converter (range between 5MVA and 20MVA), based on more than 30 years of return of experience on critical electrical systems.

A panel of experts including Marco Alves, Chief Executive Officer, WavEC Offshore Renewables, Malte Siegert, Head of Environmental Policy, Naturschutzbund Deutschland (NABU / Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), Rocío García Molina, Innovation & Port Cluster Development, Fundación Valenciaport and Dr. Janna Köhler, Advisor for hydrogen and decarbonization, Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Ministry of Science and Ports will be discussing Offshore Renewables & Alternative Energies and the challenges and options available for both alternative energies, offshore renewable energy and protecting the marine environment.

Port Endeavour – Interactive session to increase awareness among those working in port communities on how ports are already applying the UN Sustainable Development Goals to their business,

ESG – Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Workshop – The workshop will investigate: What are the benefits and value of ESG approach.

Offshore Renewables & Alternative Energies – with EALING (European Flagship Action for Cold Ironing in Ports) project.

Waste Management and Circular Economy – featuring then European Maritime Safety Agency

Blue Growth – including Lloyd’s Register Maritime Decarbonisation Hub

Digitalization and Technology – with e-nquest’s mission to accelerate the port industry’s transition to digitalized training.

The GreenPort Congress & Cruise conference brings together the whole port community and is a platform for the exchange of information on the latest in sustainable environmental practice. Experts from Port of Lisbon will be present at the conference, speaking to delegates on their current developments.

The Congress will assist maritime ports and terminals in reducing their carbon footprints whilst becoming more sensitive to environmental considerations, which is vital to their future success.
