Hapag Lloyd opens new booking portal
Hapag-Lloyd remains part of “THE Alliance” with three Asian partners but is already accepting bookings for the new Gemini Cooperation with Maersk.
Launching in February 2025, Gemini is a two-way alliance between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk, following their departures from “2M” (Maersk and MSC) and “THE Alliance” (Hapag-Lloyd, ONE, HMM, Yang Ming).
Gemini will use a “hub-and-spoke” system, focusing on 12 major ports (hubs) and over 30 feeder services (spokes). The alliance will operate up to 340 ships, with numbers depending on the Red Sea crisis. The goal is to achieve over 80% schedule reliability, well above the industry average.
“Reliability, connectivity, and sustainability are key,” says Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen. Bookings open on December 3rd.
