MAN Energy Solutions Renamed Everllence in Strategic Rebrand

After nearly 117 years, the historic name MAN — short for “Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg” — is officially retired. The company, long known for its engine manufacturing, will now operate under the new name Everllence.

Over the decades, the company’s name evolved — from MAN Diesel & Turbo to MAN Energy Solutions — but the acronym MAN remained. That changed on Wednesday, as CEO Uwe Lauber revealed the new branding at the company’s Augsburg headquarters. Simultaneously, sites in Oberhausen, Berlin, Zurich, and Copenhagen adopted the new name.

“Our rebrand is the next logical step in our strategy, ‘Moving big things to zero,’ which focuses on decarbonization and energy efficiency,” Lauber said. “We are now recognized not just for engines and turbomachinery, but also for climate-neutral shipping, large heat pumps, CO₂ capture, and hydrogen technology. ‘Everllence’ embodies this transformation.”

From Engine Maker to Climate Solutions Provider
Gunnar Kilian, Chairman of Everllence’s Supervisory Board and HR Chief at Volkswagen Group, added that the new name marks the company’s evolution into a global leader in sustainable decarbonization. “It also honors the workforce’s pioneering role over 250 years of industrial innovation,” he noted.
Everllence remains part of the Volkswagen Group. Its product and service offerings are unchanged.

What Does ‘Everllence’ Mean?
The new name merges “Ever” — symbolizing continuity and the company’s legacy of innovation — with “Excellence,” representing its pursuit of technological and corporate leadership.

From the first diesel engine and wind turbine to the world’s largest river-water heat pump, the company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability remains central as it enters a new era.
