Asuka III ready to leave

The latest cruise ship from Meyer Werft, “Asuka III,” will leave its building dock on Saturday at 10:00 am.

The 230.2-meter-long LNG-powered vessel, built for NYK Cruises, will be transferred to the North Sea by early March, weather permitting.

The Ems River will be dammed for the transfer, as confirmed by the Lower Saxony NLWKN agency. Construction began in 2023 after Meyer Werft received the contract during the pandemic. The ship features customized solutions for the Japanese market, including hydrodynamic optimization, contactless controls, and tailored onboard facilities.

Following sea trials, the ship will be handed over in Yokohama this spring, accommodating 744 passengers and 470 crew members.
