Addressing geopolitical challenges

Three months before its start, SMM previewed the upcoming international Maritime Security and Defence (MS&D) conference, scheduled for September 5-6.

The conference, which is free to SMM 2024 attendees, will feature discussions on maritime security challenges, multi-domain strategies, and new naval technologies.

Claus Ulrich Selbach from Hamburg Messe und Congress emphasized the critical security threats and innovative technologies that will be showcased.

Prominent figures in the industry will contribute to discussions on maritime innovation and security. Moritz Brake and Sarah Kirchberger will focus on maritime innovation and security issues, including the South China Sea. Trends in naval shipbuilding will also be a key topic, with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius and industry representatives discussing future investments and innovations.

High-level navy and coast guard officials from around the world are expected to attend the conference, which promises to address significant security and technological developments in maritime defense.
