New customs boat: “Fehmarn” replaces “Priwall”
The “Fehmarn”, a new LNG-powered ship, has been put into service by the main customs office in Kiel. It replaces the “Priwall” and was built at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast. The ship bears the “Blue Angel” eco-label.

The customs boat “Priwall” from 1991 has now been replaced by the new “Fehmarn”, built at the Peene shipyard in Wolgast for the Main Customs Office in Kiel. The 55-meter vessel was recently christened and commissioned.
The “Fehmarn” will monitor cross-border goods traffic and enforce customs regulations in the Bay of Lübeck, Mecklenburg, and up to the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Powered by an LNG propulsion system, the ship avoids sulphur dioxide emissions, cuts nitrogen oxides, and reduces particulate matter by 95% and CO₂ by up to 20%, earning it the “Blue Angel” eco-label. The other LNG customs vessels “Rügen” and “Emden” have also received this recognition.
Equipped with modern control and monitoring systems, the vessel also carries a rigid-hull inflatable daughter boat “Orth” for inspection trips and boarding operations.
Technical data: Length 55.20 m, width 10.00 m, draught 2.55 m, speed 25 kn, crew 8 + 2 control officers.
