Who are the top 100 women in shipping 2021?
Every year, the British media Allaboutshipping.co.uk selects and reveals their top 100 women in the shipping industry. A list consisting of admirable and prominent women, who’s career and hard work are recognized and have made a significant change in the industry.
152 women out of 1610 participating women share the top 100 places and for a consecutive year, Program Director of the Blue MBA at Copenhagen Business School, Irene Rosberg tops the list. Irene writes in a thank you note to Allaboutshipping.co.uk: “It is an incredible honour to be announced number 1 out of the top 100 women in the shipping industry for a second consecutive year. I owe this prestigious award and recognition to all those in the maritime community who supported me along this journey.”
Furthermore, she elaborates: “We proved that we can indeed go beyond welcoming only people with a technical background, which might have excluded some women, and create an all-inclusive executive education with a level playing field for women who will be groomed as the upcoming leaders for the industry.”
It is no secret, that the shipping industry is still a male-dominated industry. However, the list proves that in many ways, the industry has opened up, and the gender gap becomes smaller. More women aspire for more, they level up and take management positions.
Nevertheless, it is still essential to raise awareness of the importance of gender equality and highlight the valuable contribution of women all over the world to the maritime industry. This is a way of helping the industry moving forward and to give exposure to those women who will take the maritime industry into the 21st century.
Anny Zade, the owner of allaboutshipping.co.uk writes in her announcement: “We very much believe that we can improve a lot of things in possibly the most demanding industry of all, that of shipping, by pulling together and making diversity a MUST.”
MARPRO congratulates all the involved, both top 100 women and all the participating women. Also thanks to allaboutshipping.co.uk for recognizing the contribution of women in the industry, making diversity a MUST.
