SUMMARY:Sustainable Maritime Fuels Forum
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn recent years\, maritime transport has come under increased pressure to lower\, and ultimately eliminate\, its negative environmental impacts\, especially with regard to climate change and air pollution. \nMaritime transport accounts for about 3% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions annually\, and emits around 15 % of some of the world’s biggest air pollutants (such as Methane – CH4\, Nitrogen oxides (NOx) and Sulphur oxides (SOx)). \nAchieving significant reductions in CO2 emissions of international maritime transport requires using both less energy (increasing energy efficiency) and cleaner types of energy (using renewable and low-carbon fuels). \nAt present\, the maritime sector relies almost entirely on fossil fuels\, mainly heavy fuel oil. Meeting the 2050 goals requires the shipping industry to undergo a global transition to alternative fuels and energy sources\, such as biofuels\, hydrogen and ammonia\, or synthetic carbon-based fuels. \nThese fuels will power the new generation of vessels\, consisting of new builds and retrofits operating with zero-carbon propulsion technologies (using either modified internal combustion engines or fuel cells). \nBENEFITS OF JOINING: \n\nHear the latest on the Fit for 55 and other policies and what the industry needs to do in order to stay compliant\nAnalyze if LNG has been overlooked as a transition fuel option\nCheck the role of biofuels (bio-LNG\, bio-diesel\, bio-methanol) on route to decarbonization\nExamine the feedstock availability for a long-term\, sustainable production of biofuels\nHear why all eyes are on ammonia to decarbonise the deap-sea shipping\nDiscuss whether or not ships of the future will run on hydrogen\, electricity or something else\nSee the current status of ports and their future plans for infrastructure development\nCo-hosted with the Sustainable Aviation Fuels Forum\n\nSee more here: www.inventu.eu/sustainable-maritime-fuels-forum \nSee more events here: www.maritime-professionals.com/events \n \n
