SUMMARY:Vessel Performance Info Athens forum
DESCRIPTION:  \nToday we have lots of decarbonisation products\, tools and reporting schemes. But our ability to make better decisions to drive decarbonisation is still very limited\, whether we are a charterer\, shipping investor or owner\, technical manager\, superintendent or seafarer. \nAt our Vessel Performance Info Athens forum on February 23\, we’ll look at how charterers and shipping companies can get a better understanding of what actually drives decarbonisation – and also how technology providers can help provide this awareness. \nIt is still hard for charterers to understand which of the vessels available to them offer the least emissions for the best price; it is hard for shipowners to know what new ships to invest in; it is hard for technical managers to know what technologies to invest in\, and it is hard for superintendents and crew to know what to do. Shipping company chartering departments need to understand whether accepting a certain cargo and required voyage sped will push a vessel into the ‘D’ band of CII in its annual report. Technical departments need to understand what savings they might get from the range of options available to them. \nThere are so many decarbonisation choices\, including fuels\, technology changes\, routing and speed\, and the confusion over choices will only increase as more options are available. \nThis is about more than reporting – reporting does not directly help decision making. As a domestic example\, you may have a report of the energy efficiency of your dishwasher\, but this does not help you work out if you use less energy to wash the dishes by hand. We may be thinking more about this as energy prices rise – and it is an analogy for plenty of industrial questions such about washing tanks or using autopilots. \nConfirmed speakers: \n\n\nZoran Lajic\, Head of Fleet Performance\, Angelicoussis Group \n\n\nSotiris Spanos\, Commercial Operator\, Neptune Lines \n\n\nFrank Paleokrassas\, Head of Data Governance & Analytics\, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement \n\n\nTakis Varelas\, Director\, Danaos Research Center \n\n\nMarilena S.
