Satiate your curiosity about Seagull by immersing yourself in this exclusive interview, providing a comprehensive insight into their groundbreaking innovations.

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on another Rising Star: Seagull Surveillance. The increasing concerns about illegal activities and security threats in ports and waterways have led to a growing need for advanced maritime surveillance solutions. Seagull Surveillance addresses a crucial market gap by offering operators real-time visibility into all traffic within their designated areas. This ensures thorough monitoring and helps minimize vulnerabilities.

Seagull Surveillance stands out as groundbreaking software designed for automated harbour and waterway surveillance, holding substantial growth prospects within the maritime industry. The product distinguishes itself through a distinctive approach, seamlessly integrating live video stream recognition for over 20 diverse ship types, precise measurements of speed and sailing direction, and robust data logging capabilities. This innovative methodology sets Seagull Surveillance apart from current market offerings like AIS and radar detection, providing a unique advantage by incorporating video registration in conjunction with complementing these detection methods.

In this interview, we strive to offer a thorough exploration of the intricately crafted technology by Seagull Surveillance, spotlighting the distinctive value propositions that set them apart from their competitors. Come along as we delve into the specifics!

1.Could you describe the core products or services your start-up offers to the maritime industry?

Traditional water traffic surveillance systems have limitations as they are unable to capture all traffic. Furthermore, security guards tend to miss 90% of all objects after just 20 minutes of screen monitoring, which leaves room for criminal activities. To improve safety using existing camera installations, Seagull Surveillance automatically detects and records all water traffic in ports, harbours, locks, bridges, and waterways. Additionally, Seagull can be configured to generate alarms for rapid incident response.

2. What specific problem or pain point does your start-up address in the maritime industry?

A glaring data gap exists with respect to pleasure craft and vessels that operate stealthily. These vessels neither use nor deactivate AIS transponders, and radar fails to provide comprehensive details. However, Seagull Surveillance solves this problem with automated vessel monitoring, a comprehensive logbook, and immediate real-time alerts.

3. How does your company differentiate itself from competitors in the maritime industry?

Seagull Surveillance is different because it uses video streams from existing cameras instead of radar or GPS tracking, making it difficult for vessels to remain unseen.

4. How do you anticipate the growth and potential of your start-up in the maritime industry in the coming years?

Seagull is a highly marketable SaaS product for the maritime industry that utilizes existing cameras for worldwide deployment. Additionally, its monthly subscription cost is significantly lower than hiring more security staff.

5. Why did you apply to be a Rising Stars and what do you expect of the Rising Stars Pavilion and Europort?

We proudly showcase Seagull as an innovative, cutting-edge technology product developed in Scheveningen at Europort’s Rising Stars Pavilion. We expect to meet a global audience to receive feedback on our product and initiate business relationships.
