Lead executive to reduce spread of invasive species

Green Swan Partners announce Todd Zyra as the Lead Executive for their BAWAT Technology Services (BTS) joint venture. BAWAT is a sustainable green technology company.

Bawat Technology Services, Aps (BTS), a Danish joint venture between Green Swan Partners, a sustainability venture builder and Bawat A/S, a ballast water treatment technology company, announces the hiring of Todd Zyra as Lead Executive.

Zyra is an entrepreneurial operating executive with previous experience leading medical device manufacturing, industrial manufacturing, telecom and service industries for publicly traded and privately owned companies. He was formerly President and CEO of Silipos Holding and Klein Steel, and had leadership roles in Sprint Nextel and Cintas. He is also a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO).

The spread of invasive species is now recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and others as a significant threat to the ecological and the economic well-being of the planet. BTS was formed to deploy Bawat’s unique, industry-leading ballast water treatment technology in port-side applications around the world. BTS will finance and operate these mobile systems in ports. It will offer contingency treatment services to vessels with no systems or non-compliant systems on board. BTS is currently in ongoing discussions with ports, terminal operators and regulatory authorities around the world to provide contingency systems.

“Our oceans, waterways, marine and land-based life face innumerable threats from pollution and invasive species. While there are several ballast water treatment technologies in the market, the BAWAT system is the simplest, most effective and environmentally friendly system. Their single pass, pasteurization system uses traditional industrial components and is relatively simple to operate and maintain,” said Zyra.  “I am excited to see the impact this will have on our environment, while helping ports and ship operators meet international standards.”

About BAWAT Technology Services:

BTS, established in February 2021, provides a contingency, port-side ballast water treatment solution. It takes ballast water from vessels with inoperable or non-compliant systems, treats it, and discharges it safely. This ensures that ballast water discharged at ports is treated for invasive biological pathogens. http://ballast-water.com/
