Four of our six hybrid ferries operate on the Puttgarden-Rødby route. These four ferries were built in 1997 and converted to hybrid ferries in 2013/14. All four are double-ended RoRo ferries.

Our newest ferries from 2016 operate between Rostock and Gedser. The ferries were built as hybrid ferries in order to reduce CO2-emissions. The vessels are tailor-made for the route to optimize for shallow waters. Thus, the shape of the ship hull contributes to lowering fuel consumption. In 2020, we installed a rotor sail on one of the ferries in order to make it even more environmentally friendly.

Apart from the six hybrid ferries, we have a freight ferry. It operates primarily on the Puttgarden-Rødby route, but also acts as a replacement ferry on the Rostock-Gedser route.

Scandlines owns the world’s largest fleet of hybrid ferries, and we are proud that they bear our logo. The ferries operate between Germany and Denmark from the German harbours of Puttgarden and Rostock and the Danish harbours of Rødby and Gedser.
