Maritime Anti-Corruption was Established in 2011 by a small group of committed maritime companies, MACN has grown to include over 165 companies globally, and became one of the pre-eminent examples of collective action to tackle corruption.

MACN implementing the Anti-Corruption Principles and co-developing and sharing best practices; collaborating with governments, non-governmental organizations, and civil society to identify and mitigate the root causes of corruption; and creating a culture of integrity within the maritime community.

Maritime Anti-Corruption Governance

The MACN secretariat is responsible for progressing with MACN’s strategic workplans (including MACN’s 2020 strategy), ensuring good governance, and managing MACN’s day-to-day work, including with its members, third parties, and funders. MACN’s activities are overseen by the MACN Steering Committee, with active participation of the full MACN membership.

Mission

MACN works towards the mission through three objectives that are, Capability Building, Collective Action, and Culture of Integrity.

Collaboration

A recognized contributor and expert working in partnerships to raise the integrity standard for maritime trade.

However by 2025, through partnerships, firstly will advocate during regulatory changes, secondly participate in the international forums to raise awareness of maritime corruption, and thirdly contribute to better ethical standards beyond MACN’s own sphere of influence.
