As another year comes to a close, 2022 has seen a record high order intake of events, which reflects the immense desire to meet each other again after years of pandemic.
The overwhelming participation from exhibitors and visitors at different events have demonstrated that the maritime and shipping industry has been no exception.
From the beginning of 2022 until the second week of December, international gatherings have finally brought us back together to build and develop relationships, marking 2022 as the year of live events.
As we approach the end of 2022, we take a look back to some of the top maritime & shipping events that MARPRO attended or collaborated with.
Posidonia is an international shipping exhibition and has long been established as one of the major calendar events of the shipping industry. The international exhibition Posidonia first took place in 1969 and has been taking place every two years ever since.
Posidonia has become the largest trade show in Greece. Posidonia 2022 welcomed 1,964 exhibiting companies from 88 countries & territories and was attended by 28,892 visitors from 103 countries. In total the exhibition was attended by 40,950 participants including exhibitors, visitors, and media representatives. The exhibition had 24 national pavilions.
Posidonia serves as a bridge linking the international shipping industry with the Greek shipowners, who operate the largest fleet globally of over 4,000 vessels.

SMM takes place for four days, every two years, in Hamburg: SMM (Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology trade fair). The leading international trade fair for the maritime industry brings together decision-makers and industry professionals from all sectors.
SMM 2022 was the 30th edition of SMM. After a long pandemic, SMM offered 2,000 exhibitors from all technology areas in the maritime industry, as well as more than 30,000 visitors from over 100 nations, the opportunity to finally meet in person again in Hamburg.

Nor-shipping is where the maritime and ocean industries meet every two years – a natural hub for key decision makers from across the world to connect, collaborate and do deals to unlock new business opportunity.
Nor-Shipping has been an activity-filled arena attracting key maritime industry players from across the world for almost 58 years.
Last edition 29,000 visitors participated in Nor-Shipping. Moreover the fair consisted of 11 national pavilions.

Sea Japan is the biggest event of the Japanese maritime industry calendar. Japan’s biggest showcase of the latest maritime technologies for zero emissions. Shipbuilders, shipowners, marine equipment suppliers and providers of financial, technical and operational services gather at Sea Japan to exchange information and do business.
Sea Japan 2022 received 18,000 industry professionals and more than 580 exhibitors, providing them the perfect opportunity to expand their business in Japan.

Asia Pacific Maritime (APM) is at the centre of maritime conversation. Held in Singapore, it is the arena where the global maritime industry convenes every two years to forge partnerships and discover business opportunities.

Navalia is an international shipbuilding exhibition in Vigo, Spain. From the beginning a reference for the naval sector and to serve as a tool to attract investors and contracts for the industry. Navalia was born in 2006, and already 90 countries have participated with 25,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors. Now Navalia has become the first and biggest naval trade fair in Spain and Southern Europe.

After a 2-year hiatus, the above events are prove of the industry’s need for live events. 2023 will not be different.
